Informational Update- Toys, trinkets and technology
Dear LSS Families,
As the December break becomes a fading memory, we wanted to send a friendly reminder about toys, trinkets, and stuffed animals coming to school. The daily appearance of these popular creatures is happening in the lower and upper wing.
We know that throughout December many wonderful holidays were celebrated, and some students may have received special gifts such as Labubus, Fugglers, or Squishmallows. While these items are certainly cute and comforting, they have become a distraction to the learning environment. Specifically, they have impacted classroom instruction and peer interactions.
Additionally, when students bring personal items to school, there is a risk that the item may get lost or taken. Students may continue to keep small keychains on their backpacks; however, larger toys and stuffed items should remain at home. Of course, there are exceptions to this school rule like a classroom or school-wide special day that was earned as a prize or reward.
Lastly, I encourage families to have conversations with your children regarding Apple watches, and other wi-fi accessible watches. They are not allowed to game or text during the school day. We encourage kids to keep these things at home. If they do wear the device to school, we encourage students to keep them in their backpacks. We will address students if they are using this technology inappropriately.
We appreciate your continued support in helping us maintain a focused learning environment for all students.
Best,
Mrs. Callaghan
