The Polar Express It is with great Polar Bear Pride and enthusiasm that I wish everyone a spectacular and joyous summer! I encourage students to stay curious and creative over the summer. Continue to read and practice your math facts! Lastly, play outside, use your imagination, and make new friends!
Congratulations to our fifth graders at LSS. Our students are more than ready to go to middle school. During the annual Mixer Palooza event on Friday, our students demonstrated respect, kindness, and inclusivity. We are proud of each and every one of you. Find joy in every moment, and opportunity in every minute!
Grade 5 Farewell Celebration starts at 1:30 on June 16. Please bring a lawn chair for premium seating! Friends and family are welcome. Please write a note if you are going to early-dismiss your child after the ceremony! * Again, due to the disruption of classrooms, siblings will not attend the program. Reminders/Updates:

Nurse's Notes and Wellness Information
1. Please be advised that tick season is here and Mrs. Rollins will be taking students to the back playground for Physical Education whenever the weather permits. Despite preventative measures on our part, the children occasionally find ticks on themselves when they have been back there. Please do a tick check on the lower grade students on gym days and encourage fourth and fifth graders to check themselves. Here is the latest from CDC on tick prevention and removal https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/index.html.
2. Please send 3rd grade physicals to Mrs. Fiore @ mfiore@nsboro.k12.ma.us. If your student has not had one yet, please email Mrs. Fiore the date the physical exam is scheduled for. This document is mandatory to begin 4th grade.

Culture and Belonging
|
Caribbean-American Heritage Month This month, celebrate the rich culture of Caribbean Americans. Embrace their diverse cultures, music, food, and history that helped to shape America. Taking time to learn about those around you helps you better understand them, which leads to an important sense of belonging that everyone hopes for in the world and at work.
Filipino Heritage Month June is an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and history of the Filipino community. Take time to learn about the traditions, achievements, and contributions of Filipino Americans, and appreciate their vibrant art, cuisine, and customs that enrich our cultural landscape.
National Immigrant Heritage Month June is a time to reflect on the strength and resilience of millions of immigrants and their families who have contributed to creating our diverse society. Celebrate our unique differences by recognizing the cultural richness that immigrants bring to our communities and appreciating their invaluable contributions every month.

LGBTQ Pride Month
LGBTQ Pride Month is commemorated each year in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City. In June of 1969, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn staged an uprising to resist the police harassment and persecution to which LGBTQ Americans were commonly subjected. This uprising marked the beginning of a movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against LGBTQ Americans. LGBTQ Pride Month is an excellent time to talk with your children about LGBTQ people and their struggles to achieve equity and justice in all aspects of their lives. It is an opportunity to learn about important LGBTQ people in history, read literature that features LGBTQ people, analyze heterosexism and explore its causes and solutions.
